Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - spearmint - 10-05-2006 I apologize for not being able to copy such a large article. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/business/15683827.htm If the Mediorce News will not let you in use "bobwalka " and 4903rw password. I know I would like some of those options. Re: Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - BigGuynRusty - 10-05-2006 Thank You for not copying the article. The papers make money by selling ad space, not by being copied to a forum without the ads. Good article MintSter, Thanks! Yea, right. I tell that to the music, and movie folk. Hate to mention the obvious MAVIC, but posting in a public, or even private forum is not "Personal" use. Hate to mention the obvious MAVIC, but posting in a public, or even private forum is not "Personal" use. Show me where in the DMCA it says that. DMCA?? Why? We are talking about the press. Here is a portion of the TOS from the LA Times, most of the others I read are about the same.: "You may use the Content online and solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and you may download or print a single copy of any portion of the Content for your personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove any trademark, copyright or other notice contained in such Content. No other use is permitted. You may not, for example, republish the Content on any Internet, Intranet or Extranet site or incorporate the Content in any database, compilation, archive or cache. You may not distribute any of the Content to others, whether or not for payment or other consideration, and you may not modify, copy, frame, reproduce, sell, publish, transmit, display or otherwise use any portion of the Content without the written consent of TI." BGnR Re: Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - M A V I C - 10-05-2006 The DMCA because it's law. And terms like the ones you cited, are only valid if you agree to them. And I'll add, Fair Use provisions are granted by law. And no one can enforce any TOS that violates those provisions. Re: Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - SteveJobs - 10-05-2006 One of my most favorite sites ALWAYS posts a link first, and the entire text from articles second, when they are discussed. It is a large site and if they haven't been sued/stopped, I would think it is not a problem. Re: Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - BigGuynRusty - 10-05-2006 LOL!! BGnR Re: Leader apologizes for options misdoings. - OWC Jamie - 10-05-2006 I apologize for being late to the party. Also for not having the time to read the article (nor try). Lots of forums request/recommend copy and pasting little more than the lead in paragraph, giving the author credit, and posting a link to the rest of it. Seems fair to me. Anything else to apologize for today ? (not that it changes anything) |
