... and perhaps for those with a persistent infestation of teenagers, too.

I'm just curious, how many people here can stop hiccuping after one or two? I can't be the only one.

Mine just sort of go away by themselves...eventually. I don't even pay attention to it. On the other hand when my wife gets them it drives her absolutely crazy. She can't stand it and will immediately begin cursing and drinking water, and trying anything else she thinks will stop them. It's almost amusing how it annoys her so.

Almost.

Take a deep breath and drink at least 10 swallows of water without stopping. This works every time for me, and for everyone I have given this tip to. It interupts the rhythm of the hiccups.

when i get them bad, they keep coming back, several times a day, for 2-3 days.

then i don't get them again for months & months.

a teaspoon of peanut butter has always stopped my hiccups. Just don't drink anything immediately after, or they will come back.

..Yet again proving that all of the 'cures' for hiccups are solely for the entertainment of onlookers.

I love that the solution is "digital". We certainly live in a digital age, don't we?

I have found a sure-fire way of doing it. It works everytime.

When you have your first hiccup, swallow lots and lots of air. When you feel like you have to make a big burp, do so. That will prevent further hiccups.

If you do not do the swallowing (and burp) fast enough, you'll continue to hiccup a lot.

I should write a medical paper on this topic.
