Recommendation of 70" TV Wall Mount - Microman - 01-31-2017

Probably will order through Monoprice. And they are close to my here in Southern California.

Whats the best bang for the buck. And what options. I know there are some that move away from wall, and swivel, etc....

If anyone has any experience I would appreciate what you discovered in mounting yours.

70" Samsung 630 series.

And whats the rule on height?

Micro,

I can't speak for a specific mount for a TV that size but, I know what features I want in a mount.

A. Has to be rated to hold significantly more than the weight of the TV.
B. Has to offer full motion - extend forward/back/left/right/tilt up and down - etc.

Something along these lines:

I prefer full motion for a few reasons. The first is that it makes it easier to maneuver the Tv when connecting cables and such. That makes all the difference when connecting the power cable and coaxial cable and could make a huge difference for HDMI and other connections.

Of the two in the link, I'd go for the one that extends further out. That's just me. But, definitely check out some other mounts. You may find better options elsewhere.

I got my 55" full motion mount from here but they're not far from home.

And I'm just the opposite of Robert.

I like the lowest profile mount I can get, no swinging, tilting etc. The set brackets just hang off the top rail, so when I've had to switch out cables, I just tilt the bottom out and reach up.

My choice: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=5918

As for positioning -- https://www.vogels.com/en-us/c/best-height-to-mount-my-tv

Be sure to mount the brackets to studs. I also punched through and ran all my lines inside the wall to keep things clean

Om,

I definitely understand the reason you want low-profile. It definitely looks neater. Not as functional in my experience but definitely neater. I switched to full motion only when I found a low-profile model caused problems with cable connections in the back of the TV. The mount didn't allow the TV to be far enough from the wall. Cables were getting scrunched, causing bad connections. That and in one case, due to placement, I needed the TV to be tilting noticeably towards the right. The mounts you linked wouldn't have allowed for it.

Do you have a stand for a Cable Box or other devices that connect to the TV?

The TV is this one I think, if model last #'s are the same

The bottom area of the TV is thicker, I wonder if that would get in the way of the rails that would attach to the TV. In other words would it have to be shifted up away from that budge.

Micro,

My 55" TV is wall mounted with a full-motion mount. The cable box, receiver and other components are located in a stand beneath the TV. The OTA antenna, which is a flat panel model, mounted behind the TV.

Get a mount that allows for a fine tuning of rotation about an axis perpendicular to the wall. You will not be able to drill holes into the studs for lag bolts exactly right and so you will want ability to trim the TV to be level left to right when viewing the screen. Buy more weight capacity than you think you need.

The wall my TV is on backs up to a closet on the other side. I put everything in there (cable box, AV amp, WDTV, 8TB media server, and UPS to protect it all) using a Logitech RF hub remote to run it through the walls. The front speakers are Onsia panels that are builtin, rears are in ceiling Polks, with a Polk center speaker on a shelf above the TV, and a 10" Polk sub on the floor (wires drop down to a RCA jack box in the wall. All I needed was a outlet size hole hidden behind the TV to run it's cables through (since it is hidden, I didn't bother with a wall box, but there are options if you want one).

So everything is completely hidden from sight and can be run by the remote.

One thing I discovered was the heat buildup from the components was not good. I put USB driven laptop coolers between the amp and cable box that plug into the UPS
