calendar program, what do you use? - davemchine - 10-06-2006 I have used MyYahoo for years but for some reason it is now incompatible with Safari. I've tried it on 3 seperate computers and I can no longer use MyYahoo and safari. Very dissapointing. I've looked at google and it is pretty marginal although very pretty. Apple's .mac is a joke when it comes to addressbook/calendar applications. We should force steve jobs to actually use it for a month and then it would get fixed in a hurry. So for those of you who need a good calendar program and need birthdays in your addressbook to show up in said calendar, what are you using? Dave Re: calendar program, what do you use? - davemchine - 10-06-2006 While I'm at it, addresbook, what a pile! It can't even read in complete vcards! Dave Re: calendar program, what do you use? - will2000 - 10-06-2006 Unfortunately, I am still using ACT! on VirtualPC for my business contacts. I am hoping that the boss will go back to Outlook, so that I can use Entourage to sync with the server at the office. For personal use, I like addressbook just fine. Re: calendar program, what do you use? - TheTominator - 10-06-2006 I use iCal and AddressBook. I have no problem with the current support for vCalendar (iCalendar) and vCard in these programs. What exactly is wrong with the vCard support in AddressBook? What am I missing out on? Re: calendar program, what do you use? - davemchine - 10-06-2006 addressbook cannot import anniversaries from a vcard. Yet I was able to use a 3rd party program to import anniversaries into addressbook. Very frustrating. Also, why don't anniversaries show up in ical? Birthday do, are anniversaries somehow less important that birthdays? It's just stupid compared to other programs. Apple's got an uphill battle to bring these two programs into parity. Dave Re: calendar program, what do you use? - davemchine - 10-06-2006 Oh and now I can add this. Calendars can all be viewed at the same time in ical but once published can only be viewed one at a time, making the online version almost useless except for subscribers. Dave Re: calendar program, what do you use? - volcs0 - 10-06-2006 I use and love google calendar. I have several calendars - work, kids, etc. My wife keeps the kids and birthday calendars up to date. I have the birthday and anniversary calendars on a feed with a direct link from my website, so anyone in my family can instantly see our birthday and anniversary calendar. Re: calendar program, what do you use? - wurm - 10-06-2006 I tried iCal, but keep coming back to Palm Desktop. Re: calendar program, what do you use? - graylocks - 10-06-2006 Palm Desktop. Re: calendar program, what do you use? - MacMagus - 10-06-2006 I primarily use Remember? which makes a nice compact calendar and event-list that I keep tucked away in a corner of my desktop. Because it's the only way to get the job done, I enter duplicate events in a calendar in Entourage which syncs to iCal to sync to my cell phone. I've been using Remember? since my System 7 days. It used to be a Desk Accessory and now has been carbonized and a few subtle features have been added here and there, but it's basically the same app. I'd miss it terribly if if there came a day when it wouldn't run anymore. Remember?'s interface can be tweaked to make it very innocuous while at the same time presenting all of the events and scheduling info that I need for the next few weeks. http://www.warker.com/sw/remember#downloads |
