buying from refurb.me - Fritz - 02-14-2017

last time I bought this MBA, refurbs only came from apple direct.
Now there are a few suppliers.
While I realize it's all under the Apple aegis, anyone bought a refurb from walmart, gamestop, bb or other and have any issues?

No, they are not all under the Apple aegis, most of the refurbs listed from other sellers are what would be considered used or "store refurbished". Some might be eligible for AppleCare, but most just come with a 30-90 warranty from the seller. You will need to read the details of each offer to see what is included.

Apple does sell of some of its excess refurbished inventory to other sellers from time to time. Those do come with the Apple warranty and eligibility for AppleCare. But they are not the source of most of the non-Apple sellers now listed through refurb.me.

I had issues with Walmart over light bulbs and a partner and no satisfaction period. American Express resolved it the old fashion way.
Best Buy/Cowboom is hit or miss, but when they miss they can be reached and work to resolve issues.
Never bought any hardware from Gamestop.

Took a look at the list of sellers on refurb.me, saw one old familiar name - Mac of All Trades. Is that still owned by the same person who managed to get it banned as an advertiser from DM?

Every retailer does business differently. You need to understand a little about their process of dealing with returns/repairs before giving them money or you will feel cheated if something goes wrong.

screw it. I'll just wait for what I want when I want from Jobs place

For that refurb.me can be good at letting you know when what you want is in stock at Apple.
