"IMDb shuts down its message boards" - $tevie - 02-14-2017
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is shutting down its message boards, the organisation has announced.
In a statement on its website, the IMDb said it had “concluded that IMDb’s message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide”, and that the decision was “based on data and traffic”.
More specifically, the company – which was set up in 1990 by Bristol-based IT worker Col Needham and later sold to Amazon – said that a shift to social media had made the message boards less vital; users, they said, had “migrated to IMDb’s social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with IMDb’s editors and one another”.

It seems that message boards on all web sites--present company excepted--have become a cesspool.

Every online message board/forum needs a Friendly Political Ranting cesspool off to the side from the main forum for people to rant. Plus a normal side to chat after they've recovered from the spewing and feel better.

Yeah, pandora has a "comments" section for every song, and for every "dude love this song" there 10 with some sort of bat shit 'say iphone 10 times and post this message 20 times and look under your pillow tomorrow.." effin stupid. they should take IMDBs lead and dump it.

They also need someone to keep people from writing "loose" for "lose," "alot" for "a lot," "noone" for "no one," "could of" for "could have," and "then" for "than."
