Replacing optical drive in a MacBook - Tommie Milwaukee - 10-09-2006 I have a Panasonic UJ-845-C Superdrive laying around. Can this be installed into a 1.83 MacBook? How hard/easy is it? Re: Replacing optical drive in a MacBook - mattkime - 10-09-2006 i have no idea but i might be interested in it. Re: Replacing optical drive in a MacBook - chas_m - 10-09-2006 I feel compelled to point out that all MacBooks are still under warranty, and thus you CANNOT do this without completely destroying your warranty and any AppleCare you may have bought. As an AASP, I encourage you NOT to do this. Instead, buy a FW or USB2 case for the drive and use it that way. After the warranty is up, I would STILL strongly recommend that you let a trained AASP do that for you. That way there's someone to blame. ![]() Re: Replacing optical drive in a MacBook - blusubaru - 10-09-2006 I agree with Chas. Don't mess with it, especially when it's still under warranty. No upgrades at this time either for that machine. :>( The one you have is physically too thick to fit. |
