Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - DP - 03-03-2017 Wisconsin's butter crackdown: Fans of Irish Kerrygold are forced to leave the state to get their hands on banned dairy product A state law instituted in 1970 prohibits anything other than Grade A milk products from being distributed in Wisconsin. Because Kerrygold is made from grass-fed cow's milk in Ireland, it isn't graded by the USDA - leaving loyal fans in Wisconsin out in the cold. My wife loves this stuff-we always have it in stock at our house! Saw the story on the news this morning and looked up why it isn't sold in Wisconsin. Law may be changed to allow it as apparently a lot of folks are driving to adjacent states to buy it. A forum fave? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4254572/Kerrygold-butter-banned-Wisconsin-law.html Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - NewtonMP2100 - 03-03-2017 ....that is the best butter but expensive, so worth it, but it may be 'outlawed' due to Wisconsin being 'dairy' state [ a way to eliminate the competition? ]..... .....the only issue is that some say it isn't 100% grass fed [ during the winter the cows are fed grains of 'unknown' origin ].......there are other brands: Anchor Butter (New Zealand) Allgau german butter (Germany) Smjor Butter (Iceland) Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - space-time - 03-03-2017 I wonder if those Iceland and German cows are 100% grass fed during the Winter. Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - max - 03-03-2017 Maybe the grass is not 100% Grade A?.... Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - August West - 03-03-2017 .......that is the best butter but expensive, so worth it... Available at my local costco for a more reasonable price. Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - NewtonMP2100 - 03-03-2017 ....another cheaper alternative may be Finlandia butter.....no growth hormones and it says cows are grass fed from family owned farms......best part it Finlandia is often on sale and you can use coupons, so the price would be much cheaper than Kerrygold (often get it for $1 or less) and more widely available..... Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - GuyGene - 03-03-2017 We always try to buy organic foods, like our great grandparents ate, old fashioned, before Monsanto. So, for butter, we just get local organic if we can. Mad cow disease started because of making cattle become canibals. Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - N-OS X-tasy! - 03-03-2017 Sounds like the words to a country song. Re: Way OT: She drives to Nebraska with coolers in her car and stocks up on Kerrygold butter - NewtonMP2100 - 03-03-2017 ....yes, click-ish......like Apple and Apple fanbois......many love Kerrygold but again it is more expensive than regular butter [ it cost on average $3.29 for half the regular size, only 2 sticks instead of 4 sticks ]...... |
