Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - hal - 03-27-2017 There has been a flock of 50 waxwings flitting about around here recently. I nabbed these shots in the last couple of days. They really like the berries on the tree right outside my front door. Just adorable little birdies. I had never seen them until a move in 2010 and even then, not often, but at this new place there are LOTS around all the time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() hosting on dropbox is a lot harder than it used to be. would be quite a chore for a 20 picture post, but it's still better than anything else at hand. As suggested to me earlier, swap the 'www' in the address with a 'dl' and the embed works like it used to. Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - Uncle Wig - 03-27-2017 Noice. Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - ka jowct - 03-27-2017 The images are not showing up for me. If I command-click on the missing image icon, and select View Image, the image appears. But it doesn't want to stick. Aha: Privacy Badger was blocking the Dropbox links. Fixed it! Nice shots, as usual, Hal. Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - $tevie - 03-27-2017 Beautiful photos. Our famous family story is the time my father was looking at his life list and mentioned that he had never seen a Cedar Waxwing. Maybe a week later, seriously within days of his comment, our little tortie the hunter left a dead Cedar Waxwing on the front porch. My father was having a fit when my mother sweetly said, but dear she must have heard you say you'd never seen one. Dad did not laugh. Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - Don C - 03-27-2017 What kind of tree is it that has attracted them? I too have yet to see one live. Heard the story from a friend about them clearing the American Holly trees of their red berries a week or two before my friend wanted them for Christmas decorating. Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - DP - 03-27-2017 Cedar Waxwings eat bugs too. When we're on the river in kayaks it's fun to watch them fly off the branch, catch a bug over the river, then return to their perch to await the next snack. Beautiful birds. Nice pix! Re: Waxwing pictures (and test of the new and improved Dropbox) - flareslow - 03-28-2017 They are fond of pyrocatha berries too. |
