Anyone know wher I can get iPhoto 9.6.1? - Racer X - 05-16-2017 The App store won't let me update, as I never purchased it from them. Of COURSE I never did. I have the iLife 11 DVD, which installs iPhoto 9.0, and I downloaded the iPhoto 9.1, and 9.4.3 updaters from Apple Support site. Just search for iPhoto downloads, and there they are, except of course 9.6.1 So WHY is Apple being such an asshat about this? It keeps giving me the error "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled" What a load of horse crap. I ended up calling Apple, and eventually they gave me a code to download the latest iPhoto app, so now it does show up on my purchased list. It was a PITA, as I did have escalate up a couple of levels w/ Apple support, but after navigating that hurdle it is was easy... just had to be booted from the proper OS for the DL to work properly. Even though the Apple provided code directs you to proper iPhoto page (per description), if you're not booted into proper OS at the time, it will DL either earlier iPhoto app, or later Photos app, as appropriate, for OS in play. Grab a cold six pack, and call the support line; you should still have a beer, or two left by the time you get the desired iPhoto app installed. Good luck. == Re: Anyone know wher I can get iPhoto 9.6.1? - space-time - 05-16-2017 Buzz wrote: what is the "proper OS"? Re: Anyone know wher I can get iPhoto 9.6.1? - pdq - 05-16-2017 I think this is an installer for 9.4.3; could you go up from there? I think I may have tried to DL the 9.6.x app while still booting from Mavs, but anyway, the higher level support tech stayed on the phone while I rebooted into Yos or El Cap, and finally snagged the 9.6.x app and got it working. == Re: Anyone know wher I can get iPhoto 9.6.1? - Racer X - 05-17-2017 pdq wrote: iLife '11 DVD I purchased has 9.0. I downloaded 9.1 updater, then the 9.4.3 fron Apple Support pages. There is nothing higher that I can find, outside of the App Store update stuff, which I CAN'T, because I didn't PURCHASE it from them, through them, and download through them. Utter BS. You need to get past the 9.4.x conumdrum. I'm not sure (don't remember) how to get to Apple's 9.5.x/9.6.x iPhoto page, but the upper level Apple support helperbee talked me thru how to get there, and then gave me a code to DL and install it. Thereafter it has shown in my purchased list. I re-DL'ed it again yesterday onto an El Cap partition just to test it out, and it worked fine. You need to fire up that silver tongue, and use it on the Apple support techs until they give you the magic code and the locale where to use it. Good luck. == |
