James Bond Actor Roger Moore Dies Aged 89
......Moore played the third incarnation of the famous 007 spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me.
His family announced the news on Tuesday on Twitter saying: “he passed away today…after a short but brave battle with cancer.”

Actually, I prefer Sean Connery, but Spy Who Loved Me was my first Bond movie and RM was the Bond of my youth.

I always felt he got stuck with the silly Bond period in the 70's. I avoid the films he was in not because of him, but just because of the writing. Nevertheless, he knew his martini.

He was great in The Saint, and pretty good with Tony Curtis in The Persuaders (TV series).
Live and Let Die (his first Bond film) was very good, but (as mentioned above) the movies became too campy, and he got too old for the role.

Sean Connery was my favorite Bond too. George Lazenby was second and Roger Moore came in third (I preferred him as The Saint). Timothy Dalton was my least favorite Bond.

For Your Eyes Only is my favorite Bond movie only because I've seen the Connery ones way too many times by now and it's not terribly silly. Moore doesn't look too old in it though it could have been even better if they'd shot it 2 years previous instead of delaying it in favor of the less-than-stellar Moonraker.

I enjoyed Roger Moore's Bond. Way better than some of the more recent Bonds, who's movies that I don't even bother to watch. AFAIC, the franchise ended after Connery, Moore, and Lazenby, who I felt should have gotten more respect for his portrayal in a Bond film. (he should have had a chance to do more of them).

Craig has been a great Bond. I'll miss him when he retires from the roll.
