Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - sekker - 05-28-2017 No longer powers up. Purchased summer 2004, first installed on a G4 tower. Has been in 3 different cities, and used on a variety of Macs, Windows machines, two separate hackintoshes, and as a second monitor for an iMac (the height was perfect). An older 4x3 screen. Just one of those really useful pieces of tech, nothing spectacular but 'just worked'. Outlasted several ACDs of the same era or newer. I have it in garage recycle pile, may try to see if the problem is a flakey power switch, Au revoir! Re: Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - mattkime - 05-28-2017 might not be worth it, but lcd displays are (on occasion) easily repaired. Re: Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - jdc - 05-28-2017 Ive got a pair of Dell 2001FPs from 2003 or 2004 or so that are still going strong. 1600 X 1200, 4 port USB 2 hub, fully adjustable & 3 year warrnty -- think they were $750 new. I look at them and think about dumping them, but never see the upside... Re: Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - sekker - 05-28-2017 mattkime wrote: It's not economically a good plan. But if I can fuse the power switch, will see if that works. Re: Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - M A V I C - 05-28-2017 Find a place you can donate to that will repair it. Not Goodwill, but specifically an electronics place. Then take the tax deduction and buy a new one. jdc wrote: I hope they're not your primary screen. The colors have shifted. I have one from 2005 and another from 2008. You can see how one has shifted more with age. Most shops that really care about color get new screens every year. Re: Tech au revoir - VIewSonic 19" monitor - jdc - 05-29-2017 Ha, no. They actually arent even hooked up, just sitting on a top shelf. But the thought of goodwilling them just isnt there, and seilling for $20 seems meh. I thought about craigslist free, if I thought they might go to someone who couldnt afford a new monoitor or something, but little chance that might happen. |
