Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - Ombligo - 07-01-2017 I've used them several times, very satisfied. They have free shipping and that makes them cheaper than tirerack. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - Racer X - 07-01-2017 They will match, and just barely beat Costco, and, this is a biggie for me, they will SCHEDULE the free tire rotations. I have 2 within 5 miles of me. Using Discount from now on. And since Discount does brake work, I can have them check the brakes when rotating the tires. Of course I do the brake repairs, but they can asses them with at least a degree of expertise. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - Dennis S - 07-01-2017 I love Discount Tire. They gave me a regular matching tire and wheel and took my donut without telling me. Pretty thoughtful. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - wurm - 07-01-2017 I'm going to be needing to buy winter tires this year, so this is promising. But I have a few questions. 1. Is it safe to assume that the tires I buy from Discount Tire Direct will be (relatively) newly manufactured tires? We've all heard horror stories about buying brand new tires that have a manufacturing date three years old and have been sitting around. In a brick and mortar store, I can check the dates, but here I obviously can't. 2. If I were to buy winter tires now and store them in the house, would you recommend having them mounted on wheels now or should I wait until closer to the time I'll be installing them? Thans. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - testcase - 07-01-2017 Do I understand this right? Discount Tires will sell me the tires but, I have to find someone local to install them? If that's the case, will a "local guy" want to bother with a product he hasn't sold? Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - Ombligo - 07-01-2017 Wurm and testcase Wurm 1 -- yes, they are likely to be newer than many garages have. It is a volume dealer. Wurm 2 -- either way works. Tires are not going to deform in 6 months, maybe six years but not 6 months Testcase - I have my tires shipped directly to my mechanic (just tell him in advance). He then mounts and balances them. If you use a chain or dealership for your mechanic, then it may be an issue. Just ask first. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - wurm - 07-01-2017 Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured that was the case, but figured I'd ask for real-world experience. And yes, testcase. Last time I got my tires elsewhere and had a local garage/mechanic mount and balance them, and the time before that I got it done at Walmart. No problem either of those times. As Ombligo suggests, I wouldn't go to Town Fair Tire or your local Goodyear dealer to do it, but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue. Re: Tread You Fools! Discount Tire Direct 4th of July Sale w/ Rebates - pRICE cUBE - 07-01-2017 I know several people who buy from Discount Tires and I have yet to hear anything negative about them. As far as older tires in stock, that may depend on the demand of the tire model. Every time I drive by a DT, the paces are always busy so I assume inventory cycles through at a decent rate. You don't need to order the tires from the net. I had an Internet coupon and they gave me another one at the counter I would never have known about, so they were stacked. Another thing I like is you can make an appointment for the installation and subsequent free rotations. |
