Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - Spiff - 11-26-2017 And I have to say, I really liked it! I enjoyed how the characters were discovered and how they grew. Cyborg was really cool and I thought the actor did an excellent job of developing the character. Flash was awesome! I thought the story line was ok. Nothing fancy. I actually didn't mind Aflac (sp - I know, I just don't like him) as an aging Batman. All in all, a very enjoyable movie! Not quite sure why the critics really panned it. Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - sekker - 11-26-2017 Doesn’t seem like any more of a spoiler than watching a trailer... Glad to hear you liked it. I have it on our Xmas break watch list. Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - Spiff - 11-26-2017 Yeah, just didn't want anyone thinking I ruined it for them, that's all Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - N-OS X-tasy! - 11-26-2017 I saw it the weekend it was released and was surprised to find that I liked it - a lot, actually. I really REALLY did not expect to. My favorite thing about it? With the exception of Wonder Woman (best all-time DC movie, IMHO), it is the most human of all the DC movies to date. Also IMHO, Affleck is the best Batman ever. I will be sorry to see him vacate the character. Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - NewtonMP2100 - 11-26-2017 ....but it lacks 'heart'.......just supped up special effects one after the other.....no real character development like 'Wonder Woman' [ which is why 'Wonder Woman' avoided the curse and became so good ]....it was in the same vein as Snyder's 'Man of Steel' and 'Batman vs. Superman'....... .......Joss Whedon probably saved it from being even more depressing and long......Snyder really is not a good director........ Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - gabester - 11-27-2017 Recent DC movies I've seen are pretty few and far between; ones I've liked are even rarer, but include The Dark Knight and Wonder Woman. The rest - Man of Steel, other recent Batmans, et cetera - I can leave 'em. I'm thinking I'll probably enjoy Justice League and wish I'd seen Batman vs Superman... but then regret it if I do! Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - NewtonMP2100 - 11-27-2017 .....“Justice League” remains a problem for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. This all- star superhero ensemble, with a $300-million reported budget, fell 57 per cent. That’s in the second-weekend range for most comic-book titles without the boost of a Friday that plays like a strong Saturday. Normally “Justice League”‘s $171-million total through ten days would be considered fine. But given its combined production and marketing expense, the franchise installment needs to reach the $700-million mark worldwide. At this point, it should reach $250 million domestic. Worldwide is over $480 million so far, so it needs perhaps another $150 million more overseas. The bulk of its take is already in as it has already opened around the world, so it could be a stretch. Far from being profitable, the movie could lose a lot of money..... Re: Saw Justice League last night - possibly some spoilers... - Spiff - 11-27-2017 Yeah - not much you can do with character development in ONE film that is 2 hours long. I think it was a fantastic job developing those that we met. I think we got a really good look into Flash and his motivations. Cyborg was awesome! I really liked the actor that played the character - he did wonderful job. It could have easily been botched, being an angry teen etc etc. - but he pulled it off with the right about of anger, calmness and I thought we really got to see him grow during the film. C'mon! It's a comic first and foremost! Character development takes years in comics. Critics expect you to know everything in 2 hours? Please... Without knowing their names or personal histories, the characters had depth and pretty clear motivation in the first few minutes. It occurred primarily through dialogue. They've done similar stuff in the Marvel movies. Breaks from the action for character-development. But in the DC movies, they throw in a one-liner here and there or a jarring poorly-illuminated flashback/cutscene and expect it to be sufficient. It's not. Plus, Wonder Woman is back to be treated like a piece of eye candy. Yuck! Batman is lining himself up for a harassment lawsuit. |
