Looking for some Camera/Phone suggestions/Ideas! - microchip13 - 10-30-2006
So here's the deal, my current phone was a Sony Ericsson Z800i, the big reason I got it was because it had a 1MP camera, however it did also lack the 850 band, which happens to not be a huge deal where I live, but it would certainly be nice to have it yet again. I have a phone with a good camera because I enjoy taking some pictures, to remember things and such, and fun events of my friends and don't every carry a camera around with me. Ever, and thus the pitiful VGA resolution of many camera phones is not good enough.
Now here's the problem. I broke my phone friday night. Both of the displays are dead, and my options are pretty much as such:
1. Get replacement upper half of phone: $70. This is fine and dandy, but I've already spend $120 on the phone(Buying it in the first place) and don't really want to throw more money on it. Also, in getting a new phone I could get one with the 850 band and have slightly more coverage. However, the advantage is it would be the least out of my pocket right now, and it does have the 1.3MP camera.
2. Buy new phone. This could be expensive, I've done some looking and the cheapest MP phone I've come across would be the Samsung T809 clocking in close to $125. However, I'm not a huge samsung fan, and would prefer a Nokia or Sony Ericsson, however those(Surprise Surprise!!) cost more.
3. I thought about buying a small camera(something like an optio) for cheap off ebay and getting a low cost phone as well.
The questions over this would be:
Do all the Optios fit inside an altoids tin?

Money is an object here, a very large object, as I'm in the process of saving for a car, so can't afford to shovel $200+ out to another cause.

Buy a good slim camera, with great optics, Sony usually, buy last model for cheap.
Buy a low cost Nokia, anything but Moto.

Chip, didn't I talk to you about this about 2 years ago on New Years Day. I was talking to you from the future. And it was seen that you get an Apple phone, have trouble with it and then exchange it and write a great review about it. I think that time is soon.

Any specifics on cameras?
I like the T series(like the T1) but it seems they are still way too expensive.
I think I remember that Dennis. Isn't it also when you mentioned not to go to North Korea in 2007?

Yes, the next best is the W810i with 2MP(And the W800i and K750i as well), which all are out of my price range.

I have a Sony Ericsson K790 with a built in Cyber-shot 3.2 mega pixel/auto focus/flash/zoom that has replaced a T637. I'm very pleased with it.
