4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - pinkoos - 08-14-2018 Hi, I'm looking for a largish (at least 27") 4K monitor to pair with the used 2015 13" Macbook Pro I got. Since this is the old design MBP, there's no USB-C, etc. I haven't been in the monitor market for awhile so curious what are the makes/models to consider these days? Thanks Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - jdc - 08-14-2018 Is there a budget? Id prob say Dell because of the warranty. They have a couple of models, but the U2718Q with the super thin edge would get my vote. I have a 27" infinity edge (not 4K, but same case) -- .25" top, left and right -- plus USB 3 hub and lots of adjustment. Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - pinkoos - 08-14-2018 There's always a budget! :-) Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - bhaveshp - 08-14-2018 I have the Dell U2718Q connected to my iMac 5k and it is *almost* as beautiful as the 5k. Definitely recommended! Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - pinkoos - 08-14-2018 So that's two recs for the same Dell model - I'm seeing around $450 to $500 for the price. Does that sound right? Or, are there deals to be waited for? Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - rz - 08-14-2018 I have two 27" Samsung 4Ks that I got for $190 each when a local Sam's Club closed. Regular price was $249. I use them on a Mac Pro. They replaced two 30" ACDs. I decided to leave them in 4K mode and adjust the type sizes in the apps I use. The 30" ACDs were easier to read, but they were getting old and the colors weren't very bright anymore. Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - sekker - 08-15-2018 I think the sweet spot for 27" monitors are either 1440P or 5k. Sure you need 4k? Monoprice and others have good 1440P monitors. Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - pinkoos - 08-15-2018 I guess that's a good point. I want a "retina" class display, either 4K or 5K, preferably in the 27" to 28" range. Here are a series of monoprice monitors: https://www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=monoprice+monitor+27 Any of the 27" iPSC screens will look great as they are the same displays used by Apple for their non-retina 27" iMacs. Some 4k models there, too, but the Mac will basically turn those into retina 1080P displays. I'm running a 4k monitor in 1440P mode as I find the extra real estate preferable to a retina display. Re: 4K monitor rec to pair with 13" 2015 Macbook Pro? - pinkoos - 08-15-2018 I'm coming from a retina 4K 21.5" iMac and am now using a retina 13" Macbook Pro (2015), so I just want to make sure I'm not downgrading my viewing experience from the iMac. I definitely don't want to feel like I'm looking at a fuzzy Macbook Air screen. Looking around, it seems there are tons of "4K" 27" monitors, but not many "5K" 27" monitors, so 4K is probably fine with me. |
