before the parade, passes by?!.....Trump's parade canceled...... - NewtonMP2100 - 08-17-2018

....by the Pentagon....but he says that he canceled it [ the parade to celebrate himself, like any true dictator would have ]....

Donald Trump Insists He Canceled His Parade, But Blames Washington Locals

.....President Trump this morning boasted he’s the one who cancelled his Trump Parade. His tweet comes 12 hours after Pentagon announced the military parade requested by Trump and scheduled for November 10 has been postponed. Pentagon made that announcement not long after news outlets began reporting Trump’s Parade price tag had climbed to more than $90M, citing a defense official source.

Being Trump, he blamed someone else – local politicians who he said run Washington D.C. “poorly” and are less visionary than is he.

“They know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebrity military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up!” Trump advised.

POTUS boasted he will instead attend “the big parade” already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base at a different date. He also warned he will attend the Paris parade celebrating the end of “the War” on November 11.

“Maybe we will do something next year in D.C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN,” he tweeted, though Trump whisperer Maggie Haberman this morning said the idea is “off the table.” Haberman has described Trump’s reaction to attending the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, in 2017, as “kid in a candy store.”

Trump this morning tweeted he will instead use his parade money to “buy some more jet fighters!”

Trump similarly sought to have a military parade during his inauguration.

Trump’s morning parade-pouting tweets:

The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up! I will instead…

….attend the big parade already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, & go to the Paris parade, celebrating the end of the War, on November 11th. Maybe we will do something next year in D.C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN. Now we can buy some more jet fighters!

...buy some more jet fighters

Fighter, not fighters and at $95M apiece, Don’s gonna have to go through his couch cushions to come up with the difference.

Wonder if the French people are happy with Trumpo inviting himself to their parade.

The Washington Post has a longer, funnier story on this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-blames-dc-officials-for-postponing-his-planned-military-parade/2018/08/17/e96687c8-a205-11e8-8e87-c869fe70a721_story.html

Trump this morning tweeted he will instead use his parade money to “buy some more jet fighters!”

The original $12 million would have paid for the canceled-because-they're-too-expensive Korean war-games that keep the Chinese in-check.

$92 million is roughly what the federal government promised in matching funds and has yet to deliver to repair the crumbling Memorial Bridge outside of DC next to Arlington National Cemetery (which is also crumbling and in need of repair). This is one of few passages in and out of DC. On a weekday, 70,000 cars might drive over this bridge. Tens of thousands of people use this bridge daily and it's rapidly deteriorating. Funds have been diverted from road and bridge repairs all around the region to cover emergency repairs on the bridge and keep it standing until it's shut down to all traffic in 2021 (not because the project is so big, but because they haven't got the resources to do the project in small stages while the bridge continues to operate).

...But 45 wants a jet fighter.

that article is awesome

45 should know better than to go up against DC...or the Pentagon.

Jim Mattis is awesome, and so is Mayor Bowser.

It's hilarious that he is trying to sell the idea that spending less on an unwanted, unnecessary parade is some kind of "savings".
