Godaddy may have cheap new domains, but if you are going to keep it there are companies that offer cheaper renewals. I switched from godaddy to NameSilo.

With a few minutes of Googling, one can easily find coupons for GoDaddy renewals that bring them up (down) to par with the budget registrars.

Google has a service, I believe it is domains.google.com or similar, $12/year
