Saturday afternoon random question. - wurm - 08-25-2018 Why bother driving a convertible and then keep all the windows rolled up? It just looks stupid. I'm guessing it has something to do with messing up ones hair, but fer cripesakes, it's a convertible. Bring a hair brush and deal with it. Or could it be some other reason? Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - lost in space - 08-25-2018 When I had one, the wind would eddy behind the windshield and batter the back of my head and ears, not like the bugs-in-your-teeth kind of wind you get on a motorcycle. Having the windows up helped a lot. Some modern high-end 'verts have a baffle behind the front headrests to combat the problem. That's my take on it, anyway. Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - space-time - 08-25-2018 my Mazda CX-5 SUV or more likely CUV has a "moon roof". When I open it, there is a thing that pops up and has several "teeth" about 3-4 inches wide with 3-4 inches gap between them. I noticed that with that up there is some noise, if I reach and pull it down the noise is reduced a lot. I wonder what is the purpose of that thing? to me it just makes noise. Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - OWC Jamie - 08-26-2018 Warm enough for A/C ? Cool enough for heat ? Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - Carm - 08-26-2018 What I think is dumb about people driving around with hats in a convertible. That just looks stupid. My wife and I took her convertible for an hour ride to join my son and his wife for lunch today. Beautiful day, so the top was down with all windows down for the back roads. We were going to put the top back up for the highway, but when I mentioned this thread to her we decided to experiment. Damned if it wasn't quite a bit quieter with al the windows up. But we also noted that it also got warmer enough that we turned on the A/C to stay comfortable. With all that said, I still think it looks kind of stupid. As for the hat in the pic Speedy posted...well, I wasn't really paying attention to the hat. Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - Racer X - 08-27-2018 In Seattle, we can have the top down, with the heat on, if the side glass is up. It nets me several extra months of use each year. When I redo the interior, I'm adding seat warmers to the front bench. That and a high output alternator I'll build using the original alternator body. Re: Saturday afternoon random question. - WHiiP - 08-28-2018 Depending on how long your hair is, a hat will save you from battering: your ears, your eyes, etc. I try to keep a hat in the trunk, just in case! |
