What Plant it this? How to get more? - space-time - 08-27-2018

It was here when we bought the house. Neighbor likes it, he wants to get some for his house. How is it called? can we cut off a few branches and put in a vase with water to grow some roots and then plant? it is a perennial plant/bush.

Space, just was reading that you can grow cuttings from a Hibiscus..generally. Not sure if it applies to a chinese hibiscus.

there's info online specific to the Hibiscus for getting cuttings to take root.

good luck!

Not a hibiscus. Weigela. Strip a couple leaves off and keep the exposed buds in clean water and roots will probably form. You can use rooting hormone but it's generally not necessary.

thanks, looking at images side by side, it does look more like Weigela than a hibiscus. Wife says is it indeed Weigela. Picture was taken yesterday. This plant has flowers a few times a year.

I had a Weigela at our old house.
We had those for sale at my HD, earlier this year.
I would think you could propagate by cuttings, but I haven’t tried it.
