Bee all you can be.. how cbelt3 got rid of this summer's wasp nest. (Spoiler.. FIRE !) - cbelt3 - 08-30-2018

Last weekend I was mowing the back yard, and found a nice nest of yellow jackets (flying Satan's jerks). Fortunately I was able to speed away before I was stung. So I plotted and planned. And once the sun went down I went to look for my wasp spray in my garage of junk...... Could not find it. But I found some other things....
Gloves.
Trigger light Butane torch.
Spray can of carburetor cleaner.

Mu ha ha ha !!!!

I sprayed the nest with carb cleaner. Lit it on fire with the torch, and watched flaming wasps try to escape. But.. a few of them escaped ! Oh no !

Wait.. I remember.. summer camp... hey ! Handled properly a can of carb cleaner sprayed in bursts into a torch flame produces really cool fireballs !

I confess to giggling like a little boy as I launched fireballs at the wasps, and into the air in general, for a few minutes. Until my son came out and said "What the hell are you doing, Dad ?" He then helped, and we were both giggling like little boys.

Inside every man is a nasty little boy trying to get out.

Slightly different circumstances, but the solution remains the same: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,2283082,2283130#msg-2283130

No acetylene?

You do know about detergent and styrofoam, with a dash of gasoline...

Mrs. Cbelt3 has strictly forbidden the use of that torch for any purpose not involving cutting, welding, or brazing metal. On the pain of sleeping in the barn for a month. And skunks lived under the barn.

That's likely for the best.

Anything over 600° - 700°F is wasted on crispin' up them critters, so acetylene really isn't needed... fun as it may be...
