Wish I had known earlier I'd need this. More time lost now.

I want to remove the battery from a 2012 MBP, unless I wanna risk trying to replace the HD cable on an energized logic board.

iFixit should have the guide you need, but you'll have to supply the correct model info (screen size/retina display/unibody). The link above should get you started...

You can usually disconnect the battery-to-motherboard cable without removing the battery.

OWC has nice guides and a handy toolkit also. The little plastic pry tools are nice for disconnecting the battery.
