Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - hal - 09-03-2018 "Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department," Trump tweeted. "Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff..." my god... he's not even pretending to be reasonable. Anything tainted by Obama is not legitimate in his eyes. Anyone who is a friend should be absolved of... EVERYTHING. Swampy - how do you cheer for this man? He's despicable! Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - bfd - 09-03-2018 ![]() It's the worst of this season's Reality Shows… Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - SteveG - 09-04-2018 Republican Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) rebuked President Trump's latest attack against the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday, warning Trump that the United States "is not some banana republic." Sasse condemned Trump's tweets Monday afternoon in which the president criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for pursuing criminal charges against two GOP congressmen. Trump argued that Sessions should have taken into account the political ramifications of pursuing the cases against GOP Reps. Chris Collins (N.Y.) and Duncan Hunter (Calif.), who were both early backers of Trump. “The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice – one for the majority party and one for the minority party," Sasse responded in a statement. "These two men have been charged with crimes because of evidence, not because of who the President was when the investigations began," he continued. "Instead of commenting on ongoing investigations and prosecutions, the job of the President of the United States is to defend the Constitution and protect the impartial administration of justice." Senator Sasse is recovering from a previous tarantula bite he sustained on his last GOP White House support visit. Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - samintx - 09-04-2018 He is making it political. Can you imagine if the shoe was on the other foot? He would be screaming murder that the Dems were being political. But we should let the two Republican criminals go thru an election to save Repub seats. When would the be prosecuted if that happened? Oh, I get it. Repub are not prosecutable:RollingEyesSmiley5: Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - Filliam H. Muffman - 09-04-2018 I see it as he's complaining that the witch hunt has resulted in 6 people pleading guilty to being a witch, four people given immunity deals for testimony on other witches, and one federal trial convicting one person on 8 counts of being a witch. Anybody want to photoshop 45's face into the scene from The Grail after the trial is over? ![]() Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - sekker - 09-04-2018 I expect Sasse will change his tune by Thurs. Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - pdq - 09-04-2018 sekker wrote: Maybe, but it seems to me lately that Sasse must percieve that he needs to (or can) oppose Trump’s most egregious moves without political repercussion. Or he’s a principled Republican. Wasn’t sure they still exist, and they’re definitely in the minority, but he may be due the benefit of the doubt. (or did I miss something - what happens Thursday?) Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - cbelt3 - 09-04-2018 I get a strong feeling that one of his main reasons to run for office was that someone told him he would be above the law, and nobody could possibly convict him of any crime. Which seemed like a good deal for a dude whose entire life involved running one criminal enterprise or another. Re: Trump upset that criminals are being prosecuted - Lemon Drop - 09-04-2018 Mr. Trump’s tweets — sent from the White House on a searingly hot day that kept him from departing for his nearby Virginia golf course — criticized indictments that fall well within the Justice Department’s window for bringing charges during an election cycle. Oh no wonder he was so grumpy. He keeps publicly confessing to obstruction of justice. Nobody seems to know if tweets are official presidential statements or just his "opinions" because we're in uncharted waters here. I guess the SCOTUS will have to tell us.
