i just sold a mcintosh mac1900 which was in my living room for several years.
i had a jolida jd202 but i was nervous about tubes and the kids.
so it sat in storage for years.
but the kids are out of the house.
so the tubes came out today.
i had to teach myself how to use a digital volt meter so i could set the proper bias on the el34s tubes.
but it is done, i didn't electrocute myself nor burn down the apartment.
in fact, the jolida is presently rocking up the joint.
I just hope my most wonderful, ever loving wife likes the look of eight glowing tubes!

I'm not a tube gear sort as listening goes, but I do like some tube-amp porn.
But there was a time that I wanted
along with something/anything like
for semi-private listening.
I freely admit fidelity wasn't the first or even second consideration, more like it just looks so cool.
A graceful blend of style and substance, but at something of a cost.

Ha, nice job.
I tried a couple of the Monoprice nuevo-tube amps, but wound up liking an 80's workhorse NAD solid state the best. But I'll still keep my eyes out for tubey-goodness.
That's for hi-fi, mind you; for my (bad) guitar playing, I am a born-again tube head, starting with a slightly-modded Marshall 15W. I also threw a couple of vintage Soviet military tubes into a cheap Monoprice combo amp, and damn if those Commie valves didn't turn that sucker into a fire-breather.
