The weird thing is that nothing within his tweets should have pushed them to delay. 110% baseless rhetoric.
As for the movie, it seems odd to characterize the plot as a satire, like funny ha-ha satire? I wouldn’t think so.
But maybe I’d find it HILARIOUS, seeing as how I’m apparently “beyond” the pale regarding others’ feelings.

The producer of this film has made some really good stuff. But it's very dark.
Have you seen Get Out, or Sharp Objects?

The ironic thing about right wing objections to this film is that the "deplorables" are actually the protagonists in this one.
Premise
The film follows twelve strangers, referred to as "deplorables" in the trailer, who mysteriously wake up in a clearing.] They do not know where they are or how they got there. They discover that they have been chosen to be hunted in a game devised by a group of rich elites. The hunters gather in a remote facility called the Manor House, but their sport gets derailed when one of the hunted, Crystal (Gilpin), fights back and starts killing them one by one."

They already had to suspend advertising for it due to the recent mass-shootings. They were going to lose money on it. Better to cut losses now.

OK now that the premise isn’t what I thought, it’s even stranger. “Deplorables” who are not, is a thing that might make conservatives feel righteous. But no, Trump has to get his panties in a bunch and portray it as if “elites” are being glorified. Whatevs.
My sense is that any movie that turns political extremes into a game diminishes a serious problem we have.

I can see why they cancelled it. They're solely trying to make money and bet they could on that premise. But not if it's going to be a bunch of hassle. That just slows down the money gathering element.

I think the movie is social satire about inequality. Not so much political sides as extreme haves v. the rest of us, and how much power those extreme haves have.
Maybe Trump was offended because the movie makes billionaires look craven.
This producer has turned out some very good stuff. It's not a good moment to release a movie about killing a lot of people regardless of genre. Good call not to release it.
