Wut ?

Re: Phorum database error occurred. - MrNoBody - 09-09-2019

happens when words, phrases, or syntax upset its moral compass.

Select & Cut the entire post.
Replace with a . or ?
Post
Go back & edit, replacing the single character with the cut post (paste).
Save
Should post as normal.

Don't know why, but it always works for me.

It doesn't like degree symbols or diameter symbols, or didn't the last time I checked.

ø ° ± ½ Æ

edit: looks like one or the other has been fixed since I last checked.

It also gets wozzled by most unicode specialized characters.

wozzled ?
I'm amazed that didn't set off the MRF profanity alarm.
One letter difference:
urbandictionary

Also triggers if you try to post characters that aren't on "Western" language keyboards (Japanese/Korean/Chinese/etc.).

Yes, it's most likely some kind of special character, or a 'typical' letter, number, or character that looks 'normal' but isn't an accepted unicode character.

I've had that same problem a few times, and solved it by typing in the text instead of CnP'ing it.

But that's a no-go on longish articles.

I wish there was an app that could divine what a site finds acceptable, then show what characters in sample text in red as not acceptable.

But it's not that big of a deal to me.

I look for long hyphens, curly quotes, or underscores in the text (which usually get in there if you’re cutting and pasting some of your post from another source).

Also, I discovered the other day that you can’t use any iOS emojis.
