So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - Jerry® - 09-16-2019 Just started using the VPN from Private Internet Access and as you probably guessed it's frustrating me a lot. A lot of sites I'd been using in the past don't load when i have PIA ON including, Facebook, WalMart, Amazon, and some adult sites. I even got banned from website just because I signed up with my VPN on. I was told that signing up while using a VPN was considered "fraudulent." So, tell me what I'm doing wrong and help me better use my VPN. Thanks! Jerry Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - MrNoBody - 09-16-2019 Sign up via 'straight' ISP connection. Then you can switch back to VPN. I had to 'verify' myself with CU, Apple, Proton eMail, & AMZ via text msg. but after that, no problems. It's like the first time I used my new iPad (straight IPS), I had to confirm the device with many websites I have credentials with. yeah, it's a PITA :oldfogey: Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - Jerry® - 09-16-2019 MrNoBody wrote: well..hmmm....i already had most of the website memberships to begin with so I don't get why they'd lock me out just by trying to connect with a VPN? Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - Fritz - 09-16-2019 ask for help from PIA. They've been good for me for 3 yrs. No issues anywhere except bring a trailer. Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - RAMd®d - 09-16-2019 so I don't get why they'd lock me out just by trying to connect with a VPN? You answered that question in your first post. Many sites believe the use of a VPN/proxy means an attack by some unauthorized person or persons unknown. Also, some sites have actually been hit and view IPs from various ranges as suspect. You're not doing anything 'wrong', but you're being treat as though you are. This will happen with those sites pretty much not matter who's VPN you use. I've had the same problem with PIA. I'll try MNB's workaround, but I doubt it'll work for every site. Some just won't abide. Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - Mike Johnson - 09-16-2019 I use PIA and the only real hang up is with Netflix. Also when creating a new account somewhere it’s more likely to trigger a Capcha. But I’ve never had a problem with FB or AMZ or nakedladiesdotcom Ask PIA for support. I needed help because of email ssl certificates and they were fantastic Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - Jerry® - 09-16-2019 Mike Johnson wrote: ok I'll do that - thanks! Re: So, WTF with my VPN: PIA? - onthedownlow - 09-16-2019 Some sites have a blacklist of IPs for some VPN servers. Mainly due to other users, also using those servers, that caused issues or some type of unwanted traffic to get them on the list. Just change the server to another location (city/country/whatever) and then revisit the site and more than likely it will load fine. Happens often enough with VPN services.
