I've somewhat enjoyed the return of Bloom County, though the publication is really sporadic making the story arcs (a prominent feature of the original iteration) limited and hard to follow. Far Side was one-offs/arc-less which might better suit a casual schedule. I know these top-tier cartoonists chaffed at the tyranny of a publication schedule interfering with their art, but they created an awful lot of good stuff under that external motivation. Notice how many of them, when out from under that pressure simply stop entirely leaving us with only Collectors' Editions to reminisce by.
Then there's Garfield.

Knowing full well that I'll get poo-poo'd for saying this, I'll say it anyway:
Although he is in no way credited for it, the visual style of Zits, especially the large-format Sunday color editions, is so strongly reminiscent of Watterson's work on Calvin & Hobbes that I've often wondered if he didn't contribute a strip or two on the sly.

And Andy Capp, Blondie, and Peanuts. On at least one of those, not only has the original creator died of old age but the person who was brought in to replace them has subsequently died of old age as well.

Someone pointed out to me that Zits could be thought of as Calvin in his teenage years. (Though his existential introspection is largely dormant...for now.)
