Because they haven't spent the time/money on a HTTPS certificate and server for the forum.

Safari also shows the Forum as Not Secure.

This.

Chrome will say it about any site that doesn't encrypt traffic.

It doesn't cost much to support https. So its about time/manpower which does come back to money.

Still, this is very easily done nowadays.

Am I correct that a not secure site is only a problem if you are doing commerce on that site?

Passing credit card information would be problematic, but just carrying on conversations should be no threat.

Right?

Since your login to this site is not secure, your username and password can be fairly easily intercepted, especially when using public WiFi hotspots like those in an airport or school or coffee shop or library or hotel.

If you use the same username and/or password elsewhere, this could compromise your accounts on other sites.

This could be a sticky. If someone uses the same password here as elsewhere, change it!

It has been a while since I actually logged onto this place, the cookie is set for staying logged in. If I recall correctly, the login does use https, just not for the whole page. There are some security hacks that can take advantage of that, but the account information at least sends the password encrypted in that case.

I have often wondered about that.
Why not push to have site set up as "https"???
I for one, wouldn't mind chipping in to cover the cost if there is one.
It's about time, isn't it?
I have often felt concern about sharing my address and phone number, haven't you?
