Former MoviePass CEO is bouncing back and ready to apply his magic touch to... moviepass? - Blankity Blank - 09-18-2019

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before...

"I believe there is great unrealized value in MoviePass and we want to rebuild and make sure it reaches its full potential," [Former chairman and chief executive Ted] Farnsworth said. "I have always believed in the business model and the brand Mitch Lowe and I built at MoviePass. There's tremendous appetite for movie theater ticket subscription."

All it needs is the right touch.

Durant built General Motors, was thrown out, built Chevrolet, was thrown out, died a pauper.

Bankers made a killing, however.

All it needs is the right touch.

I never thought that demand was the problem with the whole business model.

Cinemark has their own plan. $9.99 a month with reduced prices at the concession stand. No online convenience fee, and one movie ticket included a month, it rolls over to the next mont if you don’t use it. Also points for purchases, which you can redeem for tickets or concession bucks.

They paid full price for the tickets they resold. Reminds me of the old SNL commercial for the Change Bank. "How do we make money? Volume."

Actually, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

Its been too long since I've taken in a weekday matinee, so I'll have to check the prices.

It doesn't seem that long ago I was paying around $6 or less for a non-summer block buster movie, no frills, and it was cheaper than the regular price with senior discount.

Our $1 movie theater was bought up by the local full price chain which it then shut down.
