Thinking of adding them to our old trucks, aimed down at the hitch to help guide the truck when hitching up alone. I don’t yet know if any can actually focus that closely however.
They seem to be all over Amazon for $50 or so. Not interested in getting a car stereo with a screen that can do this.

Dedicated ones for automotive use that use WiFi for video are a little easier to set up because they (hopefully) only need a 12 V power lead. You then need to decide between always on 12 V, or trigger it with the backup light lead. I think most of them can focus further than 14"-16". License plate mounting might cause you an issue if your plate is really close to the trailer ball.

I actually have my RV at a customizer now and, a GOOD back up camera (the OEM unit leaves a LOT to be desired) is on the list of upgrades I want. The staff here should have something to show me later today or tomorrow.

Class A motorhomes have the advantage of being able to mount the camera way up high near the roofline, and see down nearer the bumper. A friend has one he uses when hooking up his car to tow behind the RV.
And I know at least one of the Big 3 truck makers has a camera that can see the bumper. But the aftermarket?
In my case, what would probably be fine to have a temporary camera since I’d never need it while driving. Say, a cam on a short rod I clip to the tailgate and plug in. It would then be perched up enough to see both bumper and trailer tongue.
