Apple credit card gotcha - ka jowct - 09-29-2019 A gotcha for me, anyway. I don't need the card, but would sort of like to have it. Couldn't remember why I had decided not to pursue it so I went into wallet and clicked on Apply. And the snag appeared immediately: you must have two-factor authentication enabled. I did that briefly when I got my current iPhone and thought I was going to go nuts while it was active. I can't go through that crap on a regular basis. No card for me. Re: Apple credit card gotcha - Markintosh - 09-30-2019 The Apple Card was the impetus for me finally configuring 2FA. It was a big process of first going to some intermediate early form of 2FA, and then updating to the current 2FA. It was a pain because I needed to sign in and out of two Macs, a phone, an iPad and an ATV multiple times to get everything in sync. Once it was done though, I really have not had a need to sign into my account more than one time in the last month. I also discovered that I needed to enable Apple Cash to accept credits on purchases...but now that is done, using Apple Cash to send cash via messages has been convenient. Do it! Re: Apple credit card gotcha - jdc - 09-30-2019 As alluded to, its pretty much a one time thing. Re: Apple credit card gotcha - RAMd®d - 09-30-2019 I already had it enabled, so the process was painless for me. There's only been a couple of times when some evolution required me to do the Two-Factor Dance. And it was quick and painless. Re: Apple credit card gotcha - space-time - 09-30-2019 2FA, the way Apple implemented it, used to a pain. for some reason I did NOT have to sign out and back in to my account in several months, so I do not know if they improved it. Now that I think about it, I just upgraded my iPhone, restored from the old iPhone (scanned the moving cloud) and I think I had to enter my password, but I do not recalled getting any 2FA codes. 2FA is good in general, but not the way Apple implemented it (unless it got better lately). Re: Apple credit card gotcha - ka jowct - 09-30-2019 Seems like it is a problem if you have a bunch of devices. For our situation, it was freaking torture. I backed out while I still could. |
