So what happened to these two "GREAT" ideas? - space-time - 12-03-2019

A while ago Walmart wanted to hand out packaged to their staff to deliver on the way home. I recall reading the original article, I didn't hear much about it.

And on the same topic, I think Walmart was thinking about having their deliver people enter your house and put groceries in the fridge (assuming you had a smart lock and allowed Walmart to unlock it). Again I never heard about that.

EDIT: added quotation marks.

I believe that Jeff Bozo's retail operation was planning to do the second thing there.

Amazon is integrating package delivery with smart-home-based garage door openers and smart locks. The idea is that only the delivery person can open the lock/door, the event is recorded (electronically and, if there's a camera, visually), and I suspect if something goes wrong, the customer ends up in binding arbitration.
