What should I do with old iOS devices that are semi and non functional? - pRICE cUBE - 12-03-2019 I have an iPhone 5 that died a few years ago. Apple genius said it would be $150 so I replaced it with an iPhone 6 for slightly less. It cannot be wiped or reset, something causes it to be stuck at the connect to iTunes warning and that’s it. There is also an iPad 2 that is mostly functional but has some water damage due to a leaky pipe. I use it for a few things such as the forum and a few other minor tasks. Any heavy lifting and the apps crash. I have an iPad 1 that doesn’t really do much anymore other than act as a Roku remote control backup. Any useful ideas on what to do with these devices? How do I responsibly and safely dispose of these devices? But otherwise, you can take any Apple device to an Apple store and turn it in for recycling. They have a pretty reputable recycling program, so at least you won't be dumping lead and rare earth metals into the watershed. Re: What should I do with old iOS devices that are semi and non functional? - NewtonMP2100 - 12-03-2019 .....Apple should let you 'recycle'......there are sometime 'community' events where you can donate used/broken devices (they will wipe it for you)..........they just had one a few months ago (make sure sponsored by city/state org)........... see if you can trade-in.........?! see if you can recycle.........near you.........?!
