How are Unemployment Benefits received in California? - Microman - 04-24-2020

A friend applied for and certified etc, and online says a payment was made on 4/15/20.

Will there be a card issued with funds on it, or will there be a check sent?

All she sees is the date that funds were issued buy EDD is so busy , there is no way to get a phone call in, but there is a way to ask a question thru email , after waiting 10 days since certification, so will try that next week.

Just curious if anyone else has experience to share in California?

I believe CA uses a debit/credit card type system.

Yes, Debit Card, but you can set it up to transfer the money into a bank account. I would assume they would have sent the debit card first... But they don't reissue them if you had a previous claim within the last several years.

As said above debit card issued by Bank of America. You can also request a paper check. They reissued me a new one when more than 18 months had passed since The last payment.
