These are webcam compatible aps-c sensor sized imaging chips. They do not have the extrnal 3.5mm mic jack. If you are hooked up to a laptop or desktop, you could always use the built in mic to the camera or mic hooked up to your computer. You gain the advantages of manually setting your exposure, white balance, and background blur with certain lenses.

Why sensor size improves image quality. http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,2484049,2484049#msg-2484049

This approach may not be for everyone. I wanted to make the information available to anyone wanting to make a better image impression for clients.

Yeah... but how are they as a camera?

DSLR cameras peaked as far as feature per dollar years ago. These cameras are a few years old but the only thing newer cameras in this class feature is 4K video.

The entry level cameras are mainly good for less bulk and general use. Image quality is great, AF sensors keep up with most of everyday life subjects. Unless you plan on shooting more sports/action/low light action, then these entry level cameras are good for the money. The next step up mid level type cameras add AF sensor accuracy, faster frame rate, wether resistance. If you want these things, the 80D is in the same link.

I was thinking purely high school user.

really close to springing for the T7. $300 for body and 2 lenses seems like a steal...

I wish they would have deals like this on the T6i or T7i with the fold out screen.

I think that is a pretty good value. The only thing I don't like about it are the lenses in that package. The 75-300 is a real dog. I'm not sure about that particular 18-55 (the USM version II). The 18-55 STM (not part of this package) is a surprisingly good lens but I don't think the 18-55II is very good.

Edit: This might be out of your price range would probably be a better option. https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/refurbished-rebel-sl3-efs-18-55m-is-stm-lens-kit-black

Different deals come around at different times. If you're patient, the T6i or T7i will probably go on sale before too long.

By the way, we're in a different category here, but Canon has some really good deals on higher end refurbed cameras, too.

The 6D Mark II is $949 and the 5D Mark IV is $1799.

Yeah, those are nice prices for full frame models. With certain lenses such as manual focus 85mm 1.4 can be had for around $190 used and create lovely background blur.

You can often find a used Canon 85/1.8 AF lens for $200. I have been lusting after the 85/1.4L but that's a lot more than $200.

I am talking about manual focus models like Samyang. The lowest 85mm 1.4 autofocus you will find used is the Sigma used around $500. I have the model before the ART model and it is incredibly sharp on my D800.
