battery update - Fritz - 06-10-2020

went with Beezees rechargeable NiMH. AA & AAA.
Put a pair of AA in the frother wand and compared them to conventional alkies.
Wow! The coffee shot out of the cup. Insane torque.
As the alkies die I'll replace.

In related unrelated news, it appears my 12yo Onkyo has stopped receiving from it's remote. The remote seems to do it's thing, but Onkyo, even after a reset, doesn't respond. Darn the Luck ! ! !
Fortunately, the rcvr still works, coz I'm really not up to dropping 4 bills now.

.....not surprised....didn't Onkyo.....break up 'The Beatles'......???

Re: battery update - space-time - 06-10-2020

Some remotes and receiver can be setup with code 1 or code 2 so that you can have multiple units in the same room. My receiver was on code 1 and somehow remote got set on code 2 by mistake. It took me a while to figure out and searched online on how to reset it.

Re: battery update - Fritz - 06-10-2020

yup, reset this one to 1. It's putting out IR, so I assume the sensor in the rcvr has failed.
Wish cells still had IR blasters in them to double check.

Re: battery update - Fritz - 06-10-2020

well how bout dem apples?
I rememebered my former b.u. cell has an IR.
It's the remote that failed even though it's putting out IR signal.
The cell IR tcontrols it just fine.

Re: battery update - MrNoBody - 06-10-2020

thinking out loud...
Perhaps there's a procedure to 're-link' the Onkyo recr. and remote?
My old Yamaha 6130 has this; "Resetting all remote control codes".
It clears the remote's memory & syncs it back to the receiver.

Then that is the issue. I had that happen on a Panasonic DVR, I did find the part (IR sensor) at searspartsdirect.com and I was able to fix mine.

Fritz,

See if the back of the receiver has a plug for an IR recever extension. Some electronics that have IR reports have them. Some don't. If it has one, you can pick up an IR extender dirt cheap. Once plugged in, it supplements or disables the one on the front. Needed to do with with one of our FIOS boxes. Worked like a champ. The extenders are reasonably priced. I've seen them for under $20. I did reset the remote too. Nada.

As I wrote later, found my old phone had a IR blaster and it controlled the rcvr fine.

Weird, coz I can see the remotes IR in a camera. I would think if it's firing it's OK. But if I can find my way into the remote, I'll try changing the IR, as I'll assume the rest is on 1 chip.

Unless I can find an outboard WiFi IR blaster at Beezees house of sin and redemption.
