No I'm serious this time, I'm fairly positive I am the last to learn this one (by shear mistake):
In the Finder, hit Command-Plus (or Minus) and it changes the size of the icons.
My duh extended to Finder windows and yup, in List view, this command moves the icon size from small to the large option.
Finder window isn't so useful, but on the Desktop, it's quite useful, to quickly shorten or expand the stuff currently on there for finding stuff or putting things away.
Go ahead and laugh now.

command + 1 = icon view
command + 2 = list view

I was showing this to a friend YEARS ago (btw, this also works using CONTROL-swipe on a trackpad). Not being used to his swipe settings, I accidentally swiped too much and zoomed ALL THE WAY IN and it wouldn't go back out again. He was MAD because he had some work in the background that he didn't want to loose and I was saying that the only way out was to force shut down.
It took about 5min, but I managed to navigate the cursor to the apple menu and do the proper shut down. That was stressfull...
