Re: Who is your most famous or interesting relative? - Ombligo - 07-14-2020 My wife's uncle was Tiburcio Carias Andino, he was president of Honduras from 1933-1949, creating the National Party in the process. He would be their FDR. The best I can offer up for me was from 350 years ago - Marie Grandin (1651-1715), she was a Filles du Roi (King's Daughter). That made her one of 768 women who King Louis XIV of France sent to help colonize New France (Canada) between 1663 and 1673. I can only imagine what Quebec was like when she arrived only 50-60 years after it was founded. Closer in time would be my father, James Alfred Thompson, he was on the first bobsled down the 1932 run at Lake Placid, NY. His army group built the run in advance of the Olympics. In 1937, he was a Sitdown Striker against GM in Flint, Mi to become a founding member of the United Auto Workers.
