The Pacific blackdragon is one of 16 species that scientists just discovered has specialized “ultra-black" skin, rendering the fish virtually invisible in the depths

[which], along with 15 other species that Osborn and her colleagues have found so far, camouflage themselves with “ultra-black” skin, the deep-sea version of Vantablack, the famous human-made material that absorbs almost all the light you shine at it. These fish have evolved a different and devilishly clever way of going ultra-black with incredible efficiency: One species the researchers found absorbs 99.956 percent of the light that hits it, making it nearly as black as Vantablack.

Each of these fish is required to pay a percentage of its income to Anish Kapoor for using his copyright. The fish's barristers have advised Mr. Kapoor that he must collect the assorted bones and fish heads from within the fishes habitat.

You would expect that thing to burst through someones chest on a spaceship. Sounds like a great idea for a movie......

Female idiacanthidae can reach 40 cm in length whereas males have been recorded to only reach a maximum of 5 cm.
Females max length 16 inches.
Males 2 inches
obviously a "threat from the depths"
