Some recent Sierra (and foothills) camping/biking shots [major B/W warning] - Bo - 07-21-2020

I've managed to get away on a couple solo camping/biking trips over the last month or so into the Sierra and foothills. Lots of riding and swimming. Stunningly beautiful out there. These are mostly in the Nevada City, Emigrant Gap, Feather River, Quincy regions (plus a local sunset and action shot of me riding)!

Very fortunate to have all of this within 3-4 hours of home.

Major Bandwith Warning. Stressing out my dial up connection.

These photos look absolutely GLORIOUS! That's what the great outdoors looks like.

Great photos, beautiful landscape! Thanks for sharing.

What is the first building (the smaller of the two)? An abandoned fire lookout?

Nice! (tu)

Some of those shots look so pristine, it's like you're the first person ever there.

I go out into the boonies around here, (MI) I find litter such as bait containers/food wrappers scattered by waterways that makes me angry to see. Some people are so ignorant.

I backpacked in the Emigrant wilderness region a long while back. We didn't have digital cameras back then.

iPhone 11 (I've been very happy with the camera)

Small building with the crescent moon is the outhouse for the larger building which is an abandoned fire lookout as you noted. The cement pad for the outhouse has eroded over the years. Hard to tell from the shot but stepping out the outhouse and stumbling a few feet to your left would drop you down a 600' cliff face. There are plans to renovate the lookout and allow camping in it.

Thankfully it still feels pristine for a lot of these spots. I definitely seek that out!

At least you've got the memories! Emigrant Wilderness is beautiful as well. This is actually near Emigrant Gap north of I80 near Tahoe. Similar name, similar beauty...slightly different locale.
