Mail.app Quit Greyed Out and Solution - wowzer - 01-17-2006
The trouble is that Mail.app refused to quit, and the quit was greyed out under the app...I had to force quit. A google search which seemed to show the same errors a few times in the past. The solution(s) bantered about were:
1) reinstall with pacifist
2) delete all old emails and use back-up emails
The real solution (for me at least) is this:
manually click on each mailbox/smart mail box, so that the app will show all the un-read emails. This somehow resets the list of items in the mailbox...thus allowing you to quit out. It seemed to have fixed my mail.app.
