Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - graylocks - 02-11-2021 I have a Brother L2700DW laser printer that suddenly seems to not want to do duplex printing. The printing app opens and it looks as if all the information is going to the printer but nothing prints. Sometimes the printer fires up like it's about to print but then nothing. It prints a single page or multiple single side pages fine. I can live without duplexing but is there anything I can do to fix this. I've had this about two years; inherited it from my brother who may have had it a few years. lifetime it's only printed about 1100 pages. and while i'm here, I also have a brother J430w ink jet that keeps losing its connection to my wifi. any idea why. it's a bit of a pain to have to do the network protocol over and over again. Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - Buzz - 02-11-2021 A) It's not *that* old (the MFC), comparitively speaking, and should still have plenty of usable life left in it. B) Brother phone support can be surprisingly helpful. C) I'd call Brother and have 'em do some OTP trouble shooting. D) No clue about the squirter, never tangled w/ Bro's offerings (pretty much Canon & Epson only), but once you're on the horn w/ Brotech, ask 'em about it, too. Since it's a wifi prob, rather than a printing issue, they may not have to xfer you if they use similar connectivity standards across their printer lines. Worst case, they xfer you to another dept and you have build another relationship. Good luck. == Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - mikebw - 02-11-2021 You can easily do a factory reset on the printer and then reinstall the (latest) driver on your Mac. That's probably what tech support would ask you to do anyway. Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - space-time - 02-12-2021 can you run an ethernet cable between the router and printer? maybe move printer close to the router so the cable is not an issue. My old (2280DW) never loses WiFi connection, but the newer 2740DW does lose connection sometimes. I decided to use cable and it runs better. My response was about this issue: and while i'm here, I also have a brother J430w ink jet that keeps losing its connection to my wifi. any idea why. it's a bit of a pain to have to do the network protocol over and over again. Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - graylocks - 02-12-2021 Ah, Space-time, thanks. that printer is also next to the router. a cable would help and I may do that but that only solves the problem for my computer. i wouldn't be able to use air-print from my iphone or iPad. Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - space-time - 02-12-2021 graylocks wrote: Well, I am not sure, but I would imagine AirPrint works this way: the iPad or iPhone sends the data to the router, which sends the data to the printer, regardless if the printer and Router talk over WiFi or Ethernet. But I could be wrong. Just try, what do you have to lose? (infamous words) Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - graylocks - 02-12-2021 space-time wrote: I have a 5ghz band and a 2.4ghz band broadcasting from my router. Airprint only works if the device (computer, iphone, or ipad) are on the same band. Thus i don't think it's merely the device sending data to the router. But I'll give it a shot at when I have a moment. Re: Brother L2700DW: Duplex Now Too Complex - space-time - 02-12-2021 well, I just tried this, JUST FOR YOU I went to the basement, reset network settings on my color brother printer (MFC-J835DW) and connected to the Mesh WiFi router via Ethernet. I am able to print from iPhone. |
