I've never had much luck with these kinds of tools.

For my area (Sacramento) , it brings up, according to the FCC, a non-existent station (KKDJ) , and pretty much nothing else.

This is the best tool to find stuff...the FCC database.

That is neat that you can click on the button and listen right off. As Freeradical found, it is not very inclusive, showing none of the major stations here.

On e you click on a dot, the box showing info also shows how many stations are in the area. Clicking the city name shows the list.

It's not really meant to showcase commercial stations, although I don't think there's a prohibition on those. But I did find a couple of glaring omissions on the college radio circuit for my area. So, perhaps, if it's crowd sourced, it's not complete.
