Four promising COVID-19 vaccines - Ted King - 04-28-2021

I have a subscription to "Science News" (the paper magazine) and I read this article there. I looked it up online and since I didn't have to log on to read the article on their website I think it is open to everyone:

https://www.sciencenews.org/article/coronavirus-covid-vaccine-new-upcoming-pill-electricity

The article says that 11 vaccines have been granted emergency use in various parts of the world and that "251 COVID-19 vaccines are at some stage of development with 60 far enough along to be tested in people." They picked four to take a closer look at.

snippets:

COVAXX

How it works: COVAXX designed small pieces of protein, called peptides, from several of the proteins from SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Peptides mimic important structures within the coronavirus proteins, including a part of the spike protein used to break into cells.

Vaxart

How it works: The San Francisco–based company engineered a common cold virus called an adenovirus to carry instructions for making two coronavirus proteins into human cells. There, the proteins can be made to prime the immune system to later fend off the coronavirus.

Valneva

How it works: Valneva’s vaccine is an inactivated, or “killed,” version of SARS-CoV-2. The virus used in the vaccine was isolated from a patient in Italy. The vaccine virus is grown in monkey cells and then chemically inactivated and mixed with two adjuvants, substances that enhance the body’s immune response.

INOVIO

How it works: DNA instructions for building the coronavirus spike protein are zapped into the skin with a split-second pulse of electricity. From there, cells in the body produce the spike protein and cue the immune defenses.

That would be great news, if they are viable.

Thanks Ted. It looks like three are easy to store and/or administer. Very good news for developing countries if they make it through Phase III.

That last one is going to wreak havoc on the chip Bill Gates includes with every vaccination.

Nah, that electrical charge will activate advanced features of the BillGates chip.
