Looks like the pandemic is a real headache for the world's populist leaders - hal - 04-30-2021

Trump is gone.

Bolsonaro is in BIG trouble. Bolsonaro has insulted much of the world. Now Brazil needs its help.

Modi too. In India’s devastating coronavirus surge, anger at Modi grows

Those are the big ones. I would be a wonderful silver lining if the pandemic helped get rid of these jerks.

after reading that Bolsonaro art, I get the idea that he's gonna end up behind bars.

People who vote for these conservative populists promising easy solutions to their (sometimes imagined) ills inevitably find out their hero's answers are neither easy nor solutions.

It's a lesson mankind apparently has to learn over and over again.

Bolsanaro was elected because most of the rest of the Brazilian government of all parties and ranks were (are) part of the most extensive corruption in history.

Voters couldn't stomach ANY of them. (Which doesn't mean that Bolsonaro has netted out much better.) The political class in Brazil has almost no one left in it that isn't headed for jail, a firing squad or blame for the murder of millions by Covid..

ol' Boris isn't doing so well this week, either… and not just because he upgraded his "apartment" at #10, either
