... I'm guessing the new kitty's name might be "Minor".
:emoticon-animal-004:Edit: the Guardian is reporting that the cat is likely to be a rescue, because of Major's (re-)training at a rescue center with cats (to make sure he gets along with them). Also, the new cat is female, according to the First Lady... apparently the twitterverse is all abuzz with speculation about the kitty.
Interesting that this will be the first feline in the WH since George W.'s cat India. I didn't realize that India had lived to be 18, and was very obviously adored by the Bush family:
(that last one is from Jenna's wedding day...)
... I will say this about the Bush family, they have excellent taste in pets.

I stand by my previous assessment that it was interesting that Orange Dump didn't have a pet in the WH ... he was the only President in the last 100 years not to have one. When asked about it, IIRC, he claimed that he didn't have time for one, and worried about how he'd look, walking a dog on the WH lawn. All of these things point to a lack of empathy and someone deeply narcissistic and needy.

Wow, the Bush's cat looks so very much like our late lamented kitty cat. Except our guy was a great big guy who I could never have held in my arms like that. One time a guy working on our furnace saw him and asked us to put our dog in the back yard.
