Sooooo.. do I buy a MacBook now? - sscutchen - 01-09-2007

... or keep the ol' Pismo cranking until Apple Inc makes a Leopardish presentation?

My need is not business-related. It's just that the old steed is so damned slow when it comes to a lot of stuff these days. Even with a gig or ram and a 100GB drive. Can't watch YouTube or Apple Trailers. Lots of spinning beachballs on complicated web pages.

I've got the budget to buy now, I would just rather buy right after a hardware announcement than right before.

Is there a better integrated graphics solution currently shipping by Intel than the Intel GMA 950? That's where I'd expect to get burned. A 2.0 Core2Duo is fine. And I'll dealo with RAM and HD space. I just don't want to get the tail end of a video spec.

When is the Next Big Event? August?

With enough RAM installed, the GMA 950 is more than enough graphics card for everything except 3D applications; people forget it was designed specifically to handle HD content. I have the CoreDuo MacBook and have zero complaints about graphics performance.
