Recommendation for External HD Case - Microman - 07-20-2021 May need one that can hold a 3.5" Sata, and another to hold the 2.5" 640 Gb Scropion... Any thoughts on what would be a good choice from the search on Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/s?k=USB+3.0+Hard+Drive+Enclosure&i=electronics&rh=p_85%3A2470955011&dc&qid=1626790746&rnid=2470954011&ref=sr_nr_p_85_1 Or what you purchased that you like? Re: Recommendation for External HD Case - anonymouse1 - 07-20-2021 I've been happy with Orico. Make sure it has UASP. Re: Recommendation for External HD Case - Gareth - 07-20-2021 They're all probably very similar. I'd make cable connections a priority. For instance, I wouldn't buy a drive that uses a USB-A connector. That means (depending on the computer), you need to find a USB-A to USB-A cable if you lose or can't find the original cable. For me, I just don't have many of those. I have many Micro USB 3.0 cables, but at this point, for a bit of "future" proofing, I might look at USB-C cases, especially if you're using it with a USB-C computer. For 3.5" cases, my preference has been ones with built-in power supplies, but those were already hard to find, so not sure how available they are with USB-C. Drawback is that they will have a fan, so they might be a bit noisier than cases with an external power brick, but again, I like the cable simplicity. |
