Any water-based polyurethane for outdoor use? - clay - 07-27-2021

Looking to refinish parts of a couple of outdoor chairs. I would love to use a water based poly if there is a good one I can pick up locally (have the big box stores as options, and probably a local paint store or two if needed). I know I could just go with an oil-based product, but I hate messing with cleanup and the odors since everything else I do is water-based.

any product recommendations that are likely available near me?

I see a couple of water-based spar urethane products that are out of stock at my Lowes and HD, but looks like that would probably work for my needs. I haven't checked the paint stores yet, but I assume stock levels may not be better there.

I love General Finishes products and use them for most of my projects. That said, I really stick to their oil base finishes and have my go to specifics. The do have several water based topcoats available too:

Might give them a shot though not sure you'll find them locally.

Interesting, I'm doing a 3 season exterior wood table and would like to have a water-based solution, but just figured I'd have to do oil-based. Also curious to hear.

looks like Amazon has some of the water-based spar urethane in stock. Here's one example:

Was going to say check Amazon for the Minwax version.
I have not used it, but Minwax makes good stuff, so I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
One other advantage to using water based is that it doesn't yellow like regular oil based spar.
